Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have donated $150,000 to a children's charity.
The couple gave the sum to SOS Children's Villages, USA - which supports adoptive families and highlights the needs of children without parental care - in recognition of National Adoption Day through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
Dr. Heath Paul, CEO of SOS Children's Villages, USA, said: "I am truly thankful that Angelina and Brad understand the power of family - the kind of stable family that SOS holds as an essential part of healthy child development.
Together, Angelina and Brad have been eye-witnesses to the great work of SOS Children's Villages in Ethiopia, Jordan, a Darfur refugee camp in Chad and Haiti. Angelina and Brad know that children's need for a family is universal.
The donation from the couple - who have adopted three children, Maddox, nine, Pax, six, and Zahara, five, as well as three other kids, Shiloh, four, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne - will provide the long-term financial support needed for a family of four foster children in one of the US SOS Children's Villages.
Last year, the couple donated $100,000 to two of the organisation's centres in Florida and Illinois after being impressed by their work.
Angelina said of the generous gift: "We have seen firsthand the remarkable job SOS does to raise orphaned and abandoned children and keep families together. No one 'ages out' of an SOS Village: vocational training, advanced education, living assistance and moral support are there forever."
The SOS Villages house over 200 children and last Christmas Brad insisted it was important to show gratitude for the work the organisation does.
He said: "In this holiday season, many of us take for granted that we are surrounded by loving family members. The poor outcomes for foster children indicate that we must do a much better job of supporting them."
It was revealed last year Brad and Angelina donated $6.8 million to charity in 2008 after raising the money through their Jolie-Pitt Foundation.

When Aniston got a letter from Jolie |
Former Friends star Jennifer Aniston was shocked when she once received a letter from actress Angelina Jolie. According to reports, Jolie, who raises six children with Aniston’s ex-husband Brad Pitt, decided to reach out to her in an attempt to put an end to their long-running feud.
"Angelina doesn’t want any more bad energy in her life and she hates the hostility that exists between her and Jen," showbizspy.co.uk quoted a source as saying.
"It’s taken her a very long time to work up the courage, but she’s coming from a good place and genuinely wants to put the past behind them," the source said.
"It may seem crazy, but for those of us who actually know Angelina, it really isn’t all that surprising. She’s an unpredictable character, so for her to reach out to Jen like this is just the sort of behavior she’s known for."
"In the note, Angie tells Jen that she would make a wonderful mother and that she’s at the perfect age and time of her life to have her first child. What’s more, Brad is fully behind her. He’s so proud of Angie for reaching out to Jen," the source added.
The source further said that when Aniston opened Jolie's note, she was "beyond shocked. I think she suspected at first that it must have been sent as some kind of a prank."
"Still, when Jen realised Angie’s letter was sincere and genuine, she actually went from shocked to being impressed. Being a mature person, Jen must have recognized how much of an effort it was on Angie’s part to have gone through with the letter," the source added.

Actor George Clooney has jokingly said that he’s planning to adopt some of Brad Pitt’s kids. The 'Fantastic Mr. Fox' actor, who has no kids of his own, has claimed that he owes Pitt a favour and is willing to help out with his six children.
"I am planning to adopt. I am going to adopt some of Brad Pitt's kids. I owe him," Contactmusic quoted him as saying. Previously, the actor revealed that he has no plans to become a father, but spends time with Brad and his partner Angelina Jolie and their kids whenever he feels lonely.
"Even one kid running around my villa makes me nervous, so I'm definitely not a candidate for father of the year.
If I need to surround myself with children and feel like I have this big extended family, I can always call Brad and Angelina and ask them to stay with me, just to remind myself why I'm so happy," he said.
